John R. Ferrelle

JOHN R. FERRELLE is a recognized litigation and trial attorney who has represented clients in state and federal courts throughout the State of Georgia and the Southeastern United States since 1973. Mr. Ferrelle grew up in Savannah and obtained his Bachelor, Masters and Juris Doctorate degrees from the University of Georgia. After graduation from law school in 1973, he practiced with the Brunswick law firm of Taylor, Bishop & Lee until 1976 when he opened his own firm. Mr. Ferrelle’s law practice is devoted to civil litigation, representing plaintiffs in personal injury matters in both federal and state courts.

Mr. Ferrelle is a member of the Georgia Bar Association and the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association. He is admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Southern and Northern Districts of Georgia, as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh and Fifth Circuits. Mr. Ferrelle has earned the highest peer reviewed rating possible with Martindale-Hubbell/LexisNexis for both ethics and competence. In 2012 he celebrated 25 years of having been rated annually with an “AV” rating and has been listed in numerous editions of the Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers.

Having worked in the shipping industry and on the cargo docks and boats growing up, John has a special interest in maritime accidents. He has been designated by the Maritime Law Association of the United States as a “Proctor” in Admiralty, which is the Association’s highest membership status, and is a long standing member of the Southeastern Admiralty Institute.

In addition to his busy law practice, he is a founding member of the Propeller Club of the United States “Port of Brunswick”, and served as its vice president, secretary and director. He is also a founding director of the International Seafarers Center in Brunswick, and has received its highest commendation for unselfish humanitarian support for international seamen. Mr. Ferrelle is past president of the Brunswick-Glynn County Bar Association, has taught legal ethics and professional responsibility at John Marshall Law School, and has been appointed by the Supreme Court of Georgia and currently serves as a member of the State’s Fee Arbitration Panel.

John lives on St. Simons Island with his wife, Pam, and they have two grown sons, Rice and Robyn. He is a member of Christ Church Frederica and the Hibernian and St. Andrews Societies of Savannah. He enjoys spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. When time permits, you may find him on his sailboat, “Rowdy”, or in the Abacos, Bahamas on his power boat, “Too Cool”, fishing or diving.
